Scuba Diving in the Caribbean

Easy living, masses of choice and some of the best scuba diving holidays in the world . . .
Overview:

The islands have an amazing variety, where the cultural differences can be enormous; some have hotels and restaurants to match any in the world, or there are the quiet sleepy islands that remain relatively untouched.

Although the distance between each island is small, the differences can be enormous. Ranging from lush tropical to semi-desert, the Caribbean islands offer an incredible variety of landscapes with miles of sandy beaches and crystal clear waters.

Travelling to the Caribbean from either the USA or the UK is simple and many visitors take cruises enabling them to visit a variety of islands.

Scuba diving offers something for all divers at all levels from natural coral reefs, lava flows, marine parks and whale watching.  Wreck divers are spoilt for choice; Grenada has the famous cruise ship wreck, the Bianca C.

The Caribbean offers year round scuba diving but you might like to try Bonaire or Curacao during July to September - these islands fall outside of the traditional hurricane belt and offer great shore diving.

What to see:

Whale watching - Dominica

Underwater volcanoes - Dominica and Saba

Amazing brain coral - Tobago

Freedom diving - Bonaire and Curacao

Whale migration - Turks and Caicos Islands

Corals, rays and sharks - Cayman Islands

Wreck diving - Grenada

Sharks - Bahamas  and Tobago

Dolphins - Bahamas

Thanks to Hans from CURious2DIVE I have had a beautiful first diving experience. Finally after many years of waiting for a chance to go diving, I was at Curaçao and glad to be informed about this dive center. Hans did a very clear explanation of the basics (with humor) and then...
Bonaire Diving: Disappointing  Buddy Dive, Bonaire 1 Star Rating Added: 12th May 2012 by Keetoe
Note: This review mostly applies to the Buddy Dive resort dive activity operation; not the hotel per se. The once beautiful full-of-life reefs of Bonaire are now about 50% destroyed apparently for a variety of reasons. From “WBD” (White Band Disease) and abnormal hurricane activity since 2005 which have done significant...

This crew cares about the ocean environment, and the ways they can be good stewards of the seas. the Captain, Dive master, engineer, marine biologist and cook have always done the best at pleasing the customer and making the trip enjoyable and exciting. we did things that most dive ops...
Carriacou & Deefer Diving - Loved it!!  Deefer Diving, Grenada and Carriacou 5 Star Rating Added: 5th May 2012 by Meldrew101uk
I’d booked a quiet relaxing holiday in the Caribbean on a small island called Carriacou, one of the Grenadines just off of Grenada. The islands name apparently means Land of Reefs in Indian, so whilst I was there I decided to take the plunge and do my Open Water course....
Experience Juliet Live aboard diving  Juliet Sailing and Diving, Caribbean 5 Star Rating Added: 4th May 2012 by diverdeb
You will not find a better boat, better crew, or all around live aboard experience than Juliet. Well, you may find a nicer one as far as accommodations are concerned, but who wants to worry about cabins when you are on a dive trip? After four dives per day, and...
