Scuba diving in Europe is probably as diverse as it can get. From Northern Europe, inside the Arctic Circle, to the southern tip of mainland Europe in Spain at Tarifa. From the most westerly point in Portugal at Cabo Roca, over to the most easterly point in European Russia.
The diving inside the Arctic Circle offers some fabulous wreck diving, as well as diving with whales. If you want to see wrecks from the two World Wars, then you are spoilt for choice.
Take a look at Sweden and dive sites in the Baltic. With the low salinity of the Baltic, the wrecks are preserved in excellent condition.
Everyone knows about Scapa Flow at the most northern tip of the UK, where the German WW1 fleet scuttled itself.
For a large and popular wreck, head off to Cyprus and you will not be dissappointed with the Zenobia ferry just off Larnaca.
If you prefer warmer water, then head south to the Adriatic and take a look at Croatia and Italy where you will find a very good selection of wrecks.
For caves and reefs, then head to Malta, Sicily, the Balearics or Medas Island just off the Costa Brava.
As well as marine diving, a lot of European countries are land locked, therfore, a substantial amount of lake and cavern diving is done in countries such as Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland etc. Europe offers a terrific choice to satisfy any type of casual, cavern, club or technical diver.
