Singapore
Singapore is surrounded by scuba diving sites. Pulau Hantu is one of the most popular areas but, due to the great number of divers at this site, the coral reef has been damaged. Residents include turtles, nurse sharks and barracuda. Most of the diving here is reef diving, which is one of the largest in Singapore.
Located a mere 1.5 degrees north of the Equator, the weather in Singapore is usually sunny with no distinct seasons. Rain falls almost daily throughout the year, usually in sudden, heavy showers that rarely last longer than an hour. However, most rainfall occurs during the northeast monsoon (November to January), occasionally featuring lengthy spells of continuous rain.
- Sudong wreck - located approximately 500m north of the island, which sits in the middle of the Singapore southern islands.
- The wreck of the HMS Goodwill - a World War II British freighter sunk here during the war. Now partially covered by sand and ravaged by the strong currents, the wreck is showing signs of its age. Caution as this is a busy shipping area, so do not drift too far from the wreck.
- As with all Singapore diving, visibility is unpredictable and the currents here can be strong!
