What Level Of Cover Do I Need?

Grade 1 Sports Cover:
This is our Standard Cover, which is available on your policy at no additional charge. This cover allows for up to 3 dives per trip for the following depths:
- PADI Open Water - 18 metres
- PADI Advanced Open Water - 20 metres**
- BSAC Ocean Diver - 20 metres
- BSAC Sports Diver - 20 metres**
- BSAC Dive Leader - 20 metres**
**This applies to those diving under Hazardous activities Grade 1.
Grade 2 Sports Cover:
If you’re one of the more adventurous, qualified divers out there, this cover is for you. You’ll be covered for any number of dives on a non-incidental basis for the following depths:
- PADI Open Water - 18 metres
- BSAC Ocean Diver - 20 metres
- PADI Advanced Open Water - 30 metres
- BSAC Sports Diver - 30 metres**
- BSAC Dive Leader - 30 metres**
**This applies to those diving under Hazardous activities Grade 2.
Grade 3 Sports Cover:
So you’re the “real deal”, serious, and qualified diver. Then this cover was created with you in mind! It will ensure that you’re covered on a non-incidental basis, for any number of dives, for the following depths:
- PADI Open Water - 18 metres
- BSAC Ocean Diver - 20 metres
- PADI Advanced Open Water - 30 metres
- BSAC Sports Diver - 35 metres**
- BSAC Dive Leader - 50 metres**
**This applies to those diving under Hazardous activities Grade 3.
What Do I Need To Know Beforehand?
Please be aware that Essential Travel will only cover you for the grade you select if you abide by the following regulations:
- Unqualified divers - You must dive under the direction of an accredited dive marshal, instructor or guide
- Qualified divers - You must dive within the guidelines of the relevant diving, training agency or organisation, and aren’t permitted to dive alone
- If you do not hold a qualification, you will only be covered to dive to a depth of 18 metres
- If you travel by air within 24 hours of participating in scuba diving, you unfortunately won’t be covered under our scuba diving travel insurance
