A Divers Delight
Visit Date: March 2011
Hubby and I stayed at KBR March 2011 and loved every minute. We had never "muck dived" before so although we had an idea what do expect . It exceeded all my expectations and I now adore muck diving. Lying on the rubble whilst the dive guide is spotting a mimic octapus or a wunderpus was just so sureal!
The resort is simple but lovely. We stayed in a Beachfront cottage which was nice. Staff very attentive and lovely. Food was great, never ate inbetween meals as so full from the breakfast/lunch/dinner. Pool was nice if you could find time to chill between lunch and afternoon dive.
Dive school.
Kai and Barb were fab. Very well organised. Plenty of storage for gear. Dive staff are the biz!! They do everything for you..even carry your cameras to the boat! Dive sites a moment away and you come back to KBR inbetween morning dives and are treated to hot chocolate, coffee, tea and cookies on the first dive of the day. You order lunch then have another dive. Next dive is 2:45. You can also do night dive, house reef dives and Mandarin dive. We did the Mandarin dive and it was really good. Dive guides are utterly amazing whoever you have. Critters are in abundance. Currents virtually non existant
Evening really low key with an occasional film show from the dive school. Drinks (alcohol especially wine is not cheap here). You may want to bring a bottle of choice with you.
We loved every minute here and we dived a few places in the world but this is certainly different and the best. I am now looking to return next year.

Near perfect
Visit Date: February 2010
Spent a wonderful week muck diving here. The resort and dive operation are super smooth and the guides are world class critter spotters. Have never met such friendly staff anywhere. Only slight downside, boats are a little small IMO. I believe Tim Gurney has moved on.

Unbelievable diving in the lap of luxury
Visit Date: February 2006
My wife and I visited the KBR in February 2006 with our dive group and had a fantastic stay. The resort is situated on the legendary Lembeh Strait and the diving is mostly of the "muck" variety which can be a little disconcerting at first but after you've seen your 4th variety of frogfish, 3rd variety of seahorse and any number of weird & wonderful other critters, you soon become utterly hooked!
The centre is probably the best I've dived with. Upon arrival at the resort you are advised to dump your kit on the patio outside your room from where it is collected by the staff. Upon arrival at the jetty your kit has been put together and loaded onto your boat for maximum convenience. The only thing you have to do is put on your own wetsuit!
Lots of other liitle touches make the place special - a fresh, dry towel after every dive, freshly baked churros and other treats back at the jetty, the waiter waiting on the jetty with a menu ready to take your dinner order after the night dive so that it can be all cooked to order while you have a nice relaxing shower.
There is free WiFi available in the main building and a TV area where Steve can often be found watching Premier League games in the wee small hours.
Since we were there I believe they have opened a pool and spa area so relaxation should be even easier.
Absolutely fantastic!
