For the 6th time we were in Dahab and of course we went diving with Poseidon diving! We stayed in Le Meridien as usual, with the professional and relaxed team of Poseidon. Next November we will return. We miss them and recommand this diving centre to all divers in the world!

I have recently returned from a 6 day stay at the Le Meridien Dahab where the main reason for our visit was for me to complete my open water referral certification. The team at Poseidon were all very helpful, yet relaxed and managed to keep up with our changes in plans and different requests. Once I was certified (a two day process if you complete the confined dives beforehand) we joined a day long boat trip one day to Gabr El Bint (3 dives) and had a private guide to Ras Mohammed (2 dives) the next. Both were very enjoyable - relaxed yet professional, and left very little for us to do other than enjoy the diving.

Le Meridien itself is a lovely resort, although somewhat isolated from the main part of Dahab. This is fine if you want to just stay by the pool and eat at the resort, but for cheaper, better and more varied fare we recommend you pay the small taxi fare to get into town.

From the beginning the team were all extremely friendly and helpful.  Apart from that, these guys really went the extra mile to try and make the diving a success.  Thanks to Toby, the High Chief, when one of our group had problems, he coaxed her underwater with endless patience, understanding and cheerfulness.

As for me, now PADI Open Water qualified, I was trained by Mo, Toby and Matt all of whom were excellent. Then a three dive trip on a boat led by Ali - completely awesome.

Dahab is a magical place. The combination of turquoise and deep blue sea water with surrounding desert mountains give this place a remarkable charm that is unique only to this area of the world. The dead heat of the surrounding desert and the Red Sea with abundant marine life forms represent two extreme opposite environments that cohabit together in this divers’ paradise. My diving hobby often takes me to different areas of the world in search of pristine marine environments and Dahab tops my list as one of the world’s best diving location. In May 2009, during my what is now becoming annual visit to Egypt, I stayed with my girlfriend at Le Meridien Dahab Resort. This newly remodeled resort is a perfect location for couples that appreciate a more isolated and somewhat quiet beach resort with spectacular views of the surrounding Red Sea and desert mountains. After one day acclimation, I took my diving gear and I headed to the Poseidon Dive Center that is located within the hotel’s premises. I was greeted by Toby, the dive center’s humorous British manager that made a short introduction to the dive center and surrounding offshore dive sites. Since my girlfriend does not dive but appreciates reading a good book while catching some sun on the beach, I have decided to do two dives per day via the dive center’s boat from the hotel’s jetty that departed at 9:00AM and 12:00AM each day to surrounding dive sites in order to join my girlfriend at the beach each time we returned from diving. This caused very little disruption to our quality time spent together. The dive sites accessible via the boat offer unforgettable diving experience even for most picky divers. The dive center’s professional staff reinforce this positive experience by allowing a lot of flexibility in selection of dive locations and personal attention given to each diver. I must say that I was quite impressed by such an orderly organization of daily dives and a smooth dive center operation. I would highly recommend staying at Le Meridien Dahab, a truly remarkable hotel and diving with Poseidon Dive Center in Dahab, the best dive center in Dahab, Egypt.

There are over 60 dive centres in Dahab these days and although we're sure you might have got things a bit cheaper in town, I can honestly recommend using Poseidon, as they are both professional and friendly. I had saw some previous reviews saying they were disorganised but we found the exact opposite to be the case. If you are going to go and do some diving, I can recommend the camel safari trip, which is 2 dives on an all day trip. The diving on this day is truly brilliant, not to mention the Bedouin experience, and it made the trip for me.
