Still as good as I remember
Visit Date: April 2011
Just got back from another great time with Ambassador diver
some staff changes.Dan and Tara are gone for the summer.Everyone working there still puts the guest first. I did see an unfortunate situation at the shop. Some jerk wanted every ones plans altered to suit him and his girl. He would not have been happy if they gave him the shop. I heard he went elsewhere. Pity the new dive shop. I was treated like a king. New deal to me the staff lugs and sets up the gear. Be sure to dive the Kitti Wake

Small groups, professional people
Visit Date: November 2009
Dove in Grand Cayman with two teenagers. Fabulous time! Never more than 6 people in the group, knowledgeable dive masters. We were so glad we did not register through the hotel with the cattle car dive group, where they pick up at all the hotels and shove you into large boats.

I'd recommend Ambassador.

I went for a weeks diving at the beginning of December and dived with just about everyone on the Ambassador staff. They're all great people to dive with and I'd happily dive with them again anytime.
I've been diving for a while and am trying to improve my underwater photography. They were happy to let me dive at my own pace which was much better than being dragged around with a big group.
I also watched them with some of the less experienced divers and they were pretty darn good. Always willing to spend a little more time to get them comfortable in the water.
So in summary, great people, great dives and thoroughly recommended.

the BEST in Cayman
Visit Date: December 2009
Amabassador Divers are the best. During Christamas 2009, my husband and I visited Grand cayman and as my husband was a certified diver of over 10 years, I decided to get my certification. The theory part of the PADI e-learning course I completed online and did the pool work and certification dives with Ambassador. We called them during November to make the necessary arrangements and their staff were very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I was further impressed when I received a follow-up e-mail from Tara, introducing herself and the dive shop and asking if I had any questions before arriving.
Upon arriving in Grand Cayman and offloading our bags, my husband and I walked to Ambassador Divers to introduce ourselves and confirm that everything was fine for the course the following morning.
The next morning I met my instructor, Larry, and began the pool sessions of the course. Larry is the BEST instructor I could have asked for. He is very experienced and knowledgeable, not to mention laid-back, friendly, and enthusiastic (he clearly loves diving). After the first morning, I had my first two certification dives scheduled. I was feeling nervous about being in the ocean after only 3 hours of pool practice. But Larry and Dan were both very encouraging and patient with me. During the first dive, I got very nervous and needed to surface. Larry NEVER made me feel guilty or embarassed about ending the dive early. During the next two mornings, Larry worked with me one-on-one to review skills and build my confidence in the pool. When I finally completed my certification dives, I felt confident and prepared for all of my skills. During the three days (most people can complete it in two), Dan, Larry, and Tara were all very helpful and encouraging. I was so impressed with the individual attention and service that I received. They really tailored the open water program to suit my comfort level and abilities. After completing the course, I did 5 dives with my husband from various shore sites. Ambassador gave me the skills and confidence to dive on my own (with a buddy of course!) After ten years of diving with various people and working with various dive shops, my husband agrees that Ambassador gave me a solid background and he feels very comfortable having me as his dive buddy.
During our last day in Grand Cayman, my husband and I decided to book a trip to Stingray City. Since we had both been so pleased with Ambassdor, we decided to book through them. Once again, Ambassador was amazing! We have done the Stingray City trip before with another tour operator, but Ambassador was far superior. There was a slight confusion about the meeting time, and my husband and I missed when the rest of the group met. One of the staff members quickly called Dan, our boat captain for the day, to tell him to wait for us. Then another member of the staff drove us in her own car directly to the boat. There were only 10 of us on the boat (much better and individual attention than those huge tour boats with 100 people on them). Dan was extremely knowledgeable about the island, Stingray City, etc. He was great at attracting the rays and helping us to hold them and interact with them. After Stingray City, we went to two beautiful snorkeling sites (most tour operators only stop at one). The boat was well-stocked with water bottles, shady or sunny seats (whichever we preferred) and lots of great company and conversation! We will definitely be returning to Ambassador for boat dives and other tours the next time we are in Grand Cayman!!

Great experience!
Visit Date: November 2009
Dove with Ambassador over the Thanksgiving holidays in November 2009. Our family of four had a great time. My very jaded and "been there, done that" 17-year old actually beamed after diving with the rays, and said, "What a life experience!" We enjoyed diving with Martin and Larry. We are still newbies (only 15 dives each before this trip) and they were patient and helpful. Small groups were great. The groups going out with Red Sail were much much bigger. Dive boats were adequate (plenty of places to sit on our boat). No sales pitches. I would definitely book with them again.
