Turtles Galore
Visit Date: May 2010
My boyfriend and I went diving with Gabe in May. We hit 2 dive sites (less than 60 ft). The first dive site had many turtles so we quite enjoyed it. We got to play with an octopus at the second dive site. He even brought along a camera and snapped some great shots of us with the octopus. We are both new divers and Gabe was very patient with us. I still tend to feel a bit nervous in the water, but I felt very safe with Gabe. I would definitely come back and dive with Kaimana Divers next time around. Hopefully by then we'll have our advanced certification and be able to do some wreck dives. Dive with Kaimana, you'll be glad you did.

Go to Gabe!
Visit Date: May 2010
I dove Turtle Canyons and Ewa Reef off Oahu with Gabe and I was super happy about the experience! Gabe is lots of fun, with a great sense of humour and a laidback style, but he's serious about safety and making sure all his divers are enjoying themselves. He was knowledgeable about the biota we saw and great at finding the more camoflaged critters. I would definitely dive with him again.

Super-attentive dive shop for a wonderful dive!
Visit Date: October 2009
THE TRIP: I was recently on a business trip in Hawaii, and thought that I would take a day extra to go diving. I want to share a wonderful dive experience I had, made possible by Gabe Scotti of Kaimana Divers (http://www.waikikiscuba.com/) in Honolulu.
THE DIVE: I went scuba diving, 4 dives! Wow. This is one of the best spots ever. I finally got a fix on my favorite tropical fish is the triggerfish, aka the Humuhumunukunukuapua’a! The varieties that live here are unbelievable. These are some of the most intelligent and curious fish ever. So colorful. Such variety! On my first dive as we went in we passed a 4-5 foot long Great Barracuda, just on the surface. Watched it swimming atop of us as we descended. Some of the critters I saw included eels, parrotfish, Moorish idols, many many kinds of butterfly fish, devil scorpion fish, and octopus. In fact the octopus was brought to my attention by Gabe. Now that was really cool. Held the octopus in my hand, catching it as it emitted all of its black ink (6-8 sprays), finally Gabe calmed it down, and it clutched my hands, arms, looking at me with its marble-size eye from its grapefruit sized head. Ever changing colors to decoy itself to the multiple patterns of my wetsuit. Then it clutched my face! Too cool to see it from the underside so close. Wow. Then we followed a spotted eagle ray, beautiful purple! On the second to last dive we went to Turtles Canyon; a car-wash for turtles. There I made yet another friend. There were at least eight turtles all being cleaned by an army of wrasses. One turtle came right up to me and tried to get its eye as close to my own, only inches away. It turned its back to me to get closer, my arm rested along its back it was the size of a 4-person dining room table! The two of us spiraled, locked as one for about 3 minutes with the suns rays streaming through the some forty feet of the bluest water. Felt as though I made a connection with an intelligent animal, as best as we could short of being able to exchange words. Truly awesome. Later, on board, Gabe commented “Hey you and that turtle were dancing, I got your picture”.
THE SERVICE: Gabe was one of the most attentive and responsive to emails and questions of all of the dive shops I have ever interacted with. None of that, “Yep, we’re open what’s you credit card number” to only hear from them next just before you go under. The equipment was in tip-top shape, clean and great quality, not old, repaired, smelly and questionable, so common to most dive shops. Gabe even asked me questions to be certain that my experience was optimal. Asked me what I like about diving to ensure that he could take me to the spots to my fancy. He ensured that all details were taken care of well before hand, from picking me up, to what I would have for breakfast, lunch, to whether I was able to learn the fish names that I had seen. His care on the boat and in the water was spectacular, safety first, fun and enjoyment too. He made sure that anything I missed that his experience of over 3000 dives did not miss was brought to my attention. In the end, thanks to Gabe I did not miss much at all. Gabe found fish that I told him I favored, brought me an octopus, showed me fish that I would otherwise have missed. He even brought a camera and photographed and videotaped our dive for our benefit! Not only did he post the best, but sent me the extras. Too cool. Hawaii’s waters have much to offer, and I was able to enjoy it, thanks to Kaimana Divers. Essentially, Kaimana Divers (http://www.waikikiscuba.com/) made my vacation easy and enjoyable!

Oahu Diving - Kaimana
Visit Date: September 2009
My husband and I feel like we really lucked out last week. We were introduced to Gabe, owner and operator of Kaimana Divers LLC through reviews like this one. Gabe provided us with some fantastic dives. His island style really meshed with what we were looking for. He made sure our experience was both safe and fun. I have never seen so many octopus - he found at least 2 per dive. We also saw honu the size of a small VW bug (I swear, it was amazing!). In all, we did 6 dives with Gabe and he didn't steer us wrong. We dove the Sea Tiger, the Corsair and drifted along the coast. We will definitely dive with Gabe again and look forward to experiencing summer North shore diving with him on our next trip.
Give Gabe a call - you will love him! Mahalo!!!
