South Pacific

The world's largest archipelago with countless islands, some even unnamed . . . .
Overview:

Scuba diving in the South Pacific enjoys the reputation as being the very best in the world. Exotic marine life, including turtles, sharks, rays and whales, and a stunning seascape with corals, walls, drops offs and wrecks galore make the South Pacific a diver's paradise.

Top destinations are Papua New Guinea with its pristine dive sites, wrecks and marine life.  Fiji is famous for its coral reefs and tiger sharks.  Tahiti's beautiful turquoise waters and oceanic drop offs attract large pelagics, especially sharks and rays and vase schools of tropical reef fish.

Dive with Humpbacks at Tonga and remember the world famous Chuuk (Truk) Lagoon, home to the entire Japanese 6th fleet, sunk in 1944.

Wrecks : Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Chuuk (Truk) and Guam
Sharks : Tahiti

Having attempted (& paid for) an open water PADI course in Cairns a few weeks previously I arrived incredibly nervous. I needn't have worried. Husband & wife team Greg & Catherine could not have been more supportive. They gently encouraged, reassuring me throughout and not only did I pass, I...
Nice diving  Tieti Dive, South Pacific 4 Star Rating Added: 12th January 2013 by funrec
Tieti Diving is rather well prepared for the diver but for the usual high prices. At least they have a fairly good infrastructure with equipment room as well as changing/bathroom facilities. The rigid-inflatable is offering space for about 10 people (which I reckon is then overcrowded) with absolutely no other infrastructure...
