Barra Lodge
from 1 reviews
The warm waters of the Indian Ocean are teeming with life and the reefs are pristine. We have over 1000 species of fish as well as Manta Rays, Whalesharks, Dolphins, Turtles, migrating Humpback Whales and the mythical Dugong. The list is endless, the colours of the pristine reefs, beyond description and we are still discovering uncharted reefs.
We have two completely different diving environments for your diving pleasure: We have 16 different reefs out to sea, that range in depth from 7 – 40 metres, and our very own Barra Lagoon near the mangrove swamps, which has its own unique eco-system.

Like a Swiss train, best managed dive center ever, interesting dives
Visit Date: November 2009
Am amazed at how well run and seamless it is operated causing me to be 100% secure that everything is attended to---and it is with gusto. The staff knows their stuff, communicates precisely, keeps everyone in line (pleasantly), take off like clockwork. Really took the time to check everyone for competence and answered any and all questions. A joy to be with them. Now for the diving. They promise whale sharks and manta ray cleaning station as the highlight and practically guaranteed. Ha! After a week not a one. There had been a storm previous week which may have been an influence but extremely disappointed as this was my mission in going. The diving is not the kind of colorful diving I am usually accustomed to, coral not overly alive or plentiful. Fish not abundant. It was certainly pretty, each dive offered something different. Did not leave with any great memories. However, I am convinced it is better than this--bad timing. May try again--stay at Flamingo Lodge and lose Barra Lodge which is tired and with porous walls allows easy entry to mosquitoes.
