from 1 reviews
The spectacular dive locations of Turneffe Atoll, Lighthouse Atoll, and the Barrier reef coupled with the most modern and professional five boat "fleet" in Belize is combined with a well trained staff committed to what we like to call service the "Hugh Parkey Way".
Established in January of 2003 after Hugh's passing, The Hugh Parkey Foundation for Marine Awareness & Education provides marine educational opportunities for thousands of Belizean children each year. The programs combine classroom curriculum, with activities and field trips to Spanish Look-Out Caye to experience and appreciate the phenomenal natural marine resources at their doorstep.

Hugh Parkey's is great for diving
Visit Date: December 2009
My fiancee and I stayed at Belize Adventure Lodge over four days. We went in December, which is not the busy season, so we had the entire place to ourselves. The weather was perfect during this time of year, sunny and 85 degrees every day (though I'm told it is near the rainy season) and the water was over 80 degrees.
We stayed in the over-the-water cabanas, which are fantastic. You have a small deck that you can sit on to watch the sunsets, pelicans diving for fish, or if you are lucky you will even see dolphins swimming.
The food was the best we had on our trip to Belize by far. It was some of the most delicious food I've ever had. Anything from lobster to hamburgers was available.
The thing that made our trip phenominal was the staff. I have never met such a friendly group of people on a vacation before. They were always happy and smiling, and more than happy to help you with anything you might need. They are just the most fantastic people.
The lodge itself is a small island, which is only about 20% developed, while the rest is a protected preserve, which guests are welcome to walk around. There is also a mangrove forest just outside your door. There are few wild manatees left in the world, and this mangrove forest has a lot of them, though you will be lucky to see one as they are shy. We took our kayaks out with our guide Carlos and were able to spot one though. I highly recommend spending a few hours in the mangroves.
The highlight of our trip was the scuba diving. We did 6 dives and a night dive. The sea life is great, and the water is warm, but what makes the diving so good are the dive masters. These guys had such a good eye, like I've never seen before. They were able to spot some creatures which are typically very hard to spot - Scorpionfish, octopus, yellow stingrays, and some really rare gems like the gold spotted eel.
The dive masters also bring boards with them to write out unusual or rare critters so you know what you are looking at. Their boats are in perfect shape - they are well maintained and only a couple of years old. A large amount of equipment they have is brand new - they were still taking the tags off the wetsuits that we used. They have plenty of fresh water cleaning facilities, and onboard they always had snacks and plenty of hydration.
If you are looking for a big hotel with a large TV and places to shop or a crazy nightlife, then this is not where you want to go. However if youw ant a romantic getaway, that is quiet and able to melt away all your stress, then the Belize Adventure Lodge should be top on your list.
