In 1993, Uepi Island Resort trained the first two Solomon Islands Dive Instructors, Dick Hotton & Wilson Tela, and are still the only resort to have done so.
Peter Mara, along with Resort Managers Jill and Grant Kelly are Uepi's resident Dive Instructors. Peter, Jill and Grant are ready to turn you into the SCUBA Diver you have always wanted to be.
You can now study your academic lessons before you come to Uepi Island Resort using the SSI Home Study Program. This means you can get all your dive knowledge at home in your own time, before you come to Uepi Island Resort. Once at Uepi, our instructors will teach you the practical skills and then you will be diving amongst the corals and fish.

The magic of Uepi
Visit Date: April 2008
Uepi is so much more than a dive resort but you have to be a serious traveller to get the most from this remote and laid-back place. It isn't a resort in the true sense of 5 star luxury but having said that it is a magical island with magical owners/staff to look after you in every way. The beautiful bungalows are native-built with local timbers and are as evocative of tropical paradise as anything 5 star. There is no hot water but the climate is so great you don't even notice. The food, shared with others in the dining 'pavilion' - tall, thatched and cool with stunning views - is outstanding. But don't go if you don't like fresh crab, lobster and fish every day!!! We have been twice and adore this little gem.
