There are so many amazing opportunities when it comes to diving on Oahu. With a number of different wrecks to explore, amazing sea life to observe, and beautiful waters to enjoy, your vacation to the Hawaiian Islands just isn't complete without at least one scuba dive in Oahu. Whether you are experienced or just trying out this amazing hobby for the first time, it's important to have an experienced Divemaster on hand. At Oahu Diving we cam make sure that you have a safe and fantastic experience.

Diving in Honolulu

East facing shores are very good diving and most experts who scuba dive in Hawaii would agree this is the drift dive point of Oahu. With China Walls and the Corsair airplane wreck your Hawaiian scuba adventure might be complete. Monk seals are very common around the China Walls Oahu dive sites and divers sometimes actually get to mingle with these cool mammals. Spitting caves in that same area is also a frequented spot by monk seals.

South facing shores of Oahu are very good contrary to what you may think. Just outside of Honolulu the shipwreck scuba diving is unreal. With the yo-257 and Sea Tiger just minutes away from the boat harbor this seems to be a favorite part of Oahu for scuba divers. Swells are generally small throughout the year allowing pretty much 365 days of superb scuba diving. PADI dive certifications are primarily conducted in this area due to the location being so close to Waikiki. Kewalo Boat Basin is roughly 8 minutes to the west of Waikiki. Not bad huh ? So doing the yo-257 shipwreck and OR the Sea Tiger would definitely make your Hawaiian vacation complete.

Great First Dive Experience!!

5 Star Rating

Visit Date: April 2010

First off let me say I am very clausterphobic...That being said my initial descent was a very nerve wracking experience. A big thank you to Erik for his tough love and great support to get me through those initial moments of freak out. Erik and Ana helped ease fears for us newbies and made it a enjoyable experience for the group (only 6 of us) with two DM's so a close eye was kept on all of us. The sea was really rough that day, but it was a beautiful serene experience and to have it all caught on digital film was so great. Erik and Ana both took a lot of pics that were provided to everyone as part of the cost of the dive. That in itself is 5 star, as other excursions provide pics at an additional cost. Our boat Captain Joe was nice and helpful, he was great in helping myself and another young lady getting back in the boat as we both suffer from back problems, safety was the first concern.

We had 2 dives both arround 30+min each it was so great I wished we could've gone for a 3rd dive!

When we visit again we will Definately be looking up Oahu Diving.

A big Mahalo to Erik, Ana & Joe!!

Fantastic!

Visit Date: April 2010

On the 17th April we made our first dive with Oahu Diving.  All of us were nervous about the dive, but by the time Erik had explained all the procedures, we felt confident and relaxed.  On our dive, we saw many beautiful fish, turtles and even found an octopus!  Ana was brilliant with my kids (10 & 12) and kept a watchful eye on them throughout their dives.

The dives were brilliant value and on top of that Erik e-mailed photos of our dive.  If you are going to Oahu and are going to scuba, then Oahu Diving are the best!!

We enjoyed two great dives with Oahu Diving. With an 11 year old son (Jr Open Water-obviously inexperienced) I was concerned about getting on a cattle boat. Not so with Oahu Diving. Erik is a great guy, good with beginners and a heckuva a photographer (which he provides free of charge).

We dove southeast Oahu (off Hawaii Kai) a had two loooong 40' dives. Humpback whales were quite a bonus.

Probably a lot of whale watching boats getting cancellations as a result of Oahu Diving.

Great certification experience

4 Star Rating

Visit Date: March 2010

I completed the PADI Open Water and Advanced Open Water courses with Erik and Ana and it was a great experience. (Hawaii is definitely not the cheapest place to get certified, but, hey, it's Hawaii). They were very flexible and worked around my schedule and my diving interests. Both were also good instructors. Having gone on more dives in Maui with larger (less personalized) dive operators, I really appreciate the attention that I received at Oahu Diving. (Also, they don't add on extra charges like some of the other dive outfits--Erik sent me photos he took over the course of many dives for free, but I paid $60 for a CD of photos of one day of diving in Maui!). I'm still pretty new to diving, so it's difficult for me to evaluate the dive sites, but I can say that we saw saw spotted eagle rays (+6' wingspan), reef sharks (one at least 8' long), more green turtles than I could count, Conger and Moray eels, and lots of beautiful tropical fish. And, overall, the dives were amazing, particularly the Spitting Caves and the wrecks (Corsair and Seatiger).

Dives with Oahu Diving - Simply the Best Experience!

5 Star Rating

Visit Date: March 2010

Just got our digital pictures emailed from Oahu Diving few days ago after our diving on 3/15 (46 pictures, wow!), and wonderful memories come to my mind once again.

Ever since we made our mind to go to Oahu, Hawaii for spring break, going scuba diving has become one of our must-dos on the island. After reading some reviews, I contacted Oahu Diving via email a few days before we set off to Hawaii and we decided to dive on 3/15. At first, I was sorta uncertain since they don’t have any payment option on their website…but well, FREE digital photo, AT-YOUR-PACE instruction and TWO DIVES in a day for us first time divers—my friend and I decided to give them a try, and we never feel regret even we are now back to home in LA.

Around 12:30 pm on 3/15, Erik came to pick us up at Waikiki Beach on time and he was super friendly. We shared the ride with another customer who also comes from Los Angeles and is gonna get certified and had a nice chat on the road to the harbor. Soon after all the group member today arrived, we got our scuba gear and Erik started the instruction. He explained the equipment to us very thoroughly and patiently, how we should use it, how to clear our mask if there’s water inside, how to breath using the regulator, how to find the regulator if it gets knocked out of our mouth, sign languages used under the water, approximately 15-20 minutes including practices.

After the instructions, we set off to the first area to dive. Erik and Ana (another super helpful and friendly staff at Oahu Diving) checked on everyone’s equipment and encouraged us to be relaxed and enjoy our dive. My first minutes under the water weren’t so successful because I wasn’t able to convince myself right away that I could breathe with the regulator. However, thanks for Erik for calming me down and encouraged me to try out again, soon I was able to go under the water at my second try—I was totally speechless when I saw so many creatures down there in the ocean. It was simply fantastic! Meanwhile, Erik and Ana checked on us from time to time to make sure we were all safe and sound down there and took tons of cool pictures for us. It was my first time to see and swim with so many colorful fish and even got to play with a sea turtle. What an amazing experience.

At the 2nd dive, we went somewhere much deeper, about 30 to 40 feet under the sea I thought. My friend and I felt wacky inside our ears because of the pressure, and Ana constantly checked on us and made sure I was okay and have me dive again. The second dive was much relaxing to me since I got used to how the regulator works (though I felt pressure inside my ears at very first few minutes); I got to see more fish and even an octopus! (Erik was always aware of anything interesting under the sea and showed them to us immediately, thanks!) At the moment, I kinda want to be a Hawaiian for I can come see and swim with these attractive sea creatures every day…

Overall, my friend (though she didn’t manage to the 2nd dive due to ear pressure issues) and I had a very wonderful experience in our very first dive! Thank you so much, Erik (for being a super help and nice photographer all the time), Ana (for constantly helps and consideration, especially at my 2nd dive), and Captain Joe (for bring me up to the boat and handing me a tissue)! If I ever go to Oahu again, you guys are definitely my first choice of diving. Keep up with your excellent work! Oahu Diving rocks, mahalo! :-)
