Nevada is in the west of the United States and is it’s largest populated city, Las Vegas, has worldwide renown originally, for gambling, but now as a tourist destination, not only for the roll of the dice, but also, for the amazing hotels and theme parks.  Nevada is bordered by five other states, which are California to the west, Arizona & Utah to the east and Idaho and Oregon to the north.  The state capital of Nevada is Carson City.

The climate of Nevada is dry and sunny and is the driest of all the US states, with only 7 inches of rainfall.  The average temperature in Las Vegas during January is 46f/7c and during July is 90f/32c.  There is a reasonable amount of snow, which can be up to 60 inches, but this is in the mountainous region.

Scuba diving in Nevada is limited to lakes as it is a land locked state.  Close to Las Vegas is Lake Mead, home to the Hoover Dam and is a popular site for diving.   There are a few wrecks and the well known Batch Plant, which was originally used in the building of the Hoover Dam as an aggregate washing facility for the concrete to build the dam.  It is now at a depth of 90 feet and is home to many fish.  There are also some railway trucks to be seen.
