About Shark Rescue
Shark Rescue’s mission is to protect sharks and the oceans from unsustainable human activities. The reason behind the call for a ban on shark fishing is that fisheries have already decimated shark populations the world over, effectively upsetting the balance of marine habitats. This is especially of concern in Hong Kong, where a recent investigation found that Hong Kong's shark fin traders sold species of hammerhead shark from as far away as the Americas, which are critically endangered. Shark Rescue has supports several shark conservation campaigns, such as the shark sanctuary in Palau. Shark Rescue has also been successfully lobbying companies to change or adopt new shark-friendly practices.
